Doubt vs. Unbelief
I was having a discussion with a small group about doubt and unbelief. What is the difference?
I shared that I have met people who have honest questions about a topic. They are seekers of truth. They are looking. They consider and ponder. They raise questions and turn things over to look at them. Then I met the other kind. You no doubt have met them as well. They ask questions but they really aren’t looking for an answer. You share a possible answer, and they shoot it down by attacking a strawman or doing something disingenuous.
As others talked about what they thought the difference was, Kevin Traylor said something that gave me new insight into the topic: “Disbelief is certainty. Doubt is uncertain.”
